About the Role

Our client, a leading multinational corporation, is seeking an experienced Remote Category Manager to lead the strategic sourcing and procurement of indirect services across the organization. This fully remote position requires a skilled negotiator and strategic thinker who can manage diverse categories such as IT services, professional services, marketing, travel, and facilities management. The Category Manager will be responsible for developing category strategies, driving cost savings, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring service levels meet business requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work with a global team, influence major procurement decisions, and contribute significantly to the company's financial performance from a remote location. We are looking for a self-motivated professional with a proven track record in indirect procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for indirect services, focusing on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and value creation.
• Conduct thorough market analysis to identify supplier capabilities, industry benchmarks, and cost drivers for assigned categories.
• Lead complex sourcing events (RFx processes) and negotiations for high-value contracts with service providers.
• Manage and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers, ensuring performance against contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and future requirements within their respective spend areas.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the categories managed, seeking innovative solutions and best practices.
• Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular business reviews to ensure ongoing value and compliance.
• Develop and maintain category dashboards and reports, tracking spend, savings, supplier performance, and key risks.
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and guide junior members of the procurement team as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 4 years focused on managing indirect spend categories.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing category strategies and leading complex sourcing initiatives.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and contract management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen understanding of financial metrics.
• Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., e-sourcing tools, P2P systems) and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
• Knowledge of various indirect service markets is highly desirable.
