Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking fleet management solutions provider, is seeking a highly analytical Remote Automotive Data Analyst to focus on fleet performance optimization. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting vast amounts of data generated by vehicle fleets to identify trends, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety. Your insights will directly inform strategic decisions for our clients, helping them manage their vehicle assets more effectively. The ideal candidate possesses strong quantitative skills, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of automotive operations and data analysis tools. This is a remote-first role, requiring excellent self-discipline and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and organize data from various sources, including telematics devices, maintenance records, and driver behavior logs.
• Analyze fleet performance data to identify key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and areas for improvement in areas such as fuel efficiency, maintenance, and utilization.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize fleet data and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients to optimize fleet operations, reduce operational costs, and enhance vehicle uptime.
• Monitor vehicle health, predict potential maintenance needs, and assist in proactive maintenance scheduling.
• Investigate anomalies and root causes of issues related to fleet performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, IT, and client success managers, to implement data-driven strategies.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and analytical techniques relevant to fleet management.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security throughout all analytical processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably with a focus on automotive or fleet management data (minimum 3 years).
• Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python (Pandas, NumPy), or R.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Solid understanding of automotive operations, vehicle telematics, and fleet management principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into clear, actionable insights.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
