Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented AI/ML Platform Engineer to join its technology team in a fully remote role. You will build scalable AI infrastructure, develop MLOps pipelines, and optimize distributed training and inference environments for performance and cost efficiency.

You will collaborate with data scientists, implement monitoring, and help select new tools while supporting a global development effort from Port Elizabeth to the world.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with platform, DevOps or MLOps focus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with ML concepts and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable AI/ML infrastructure and MLOps pipelines.
• Develop and automate data ingestion, model training, deployment, and monitoring workflows.
• Optimize distributed training and inference for performance and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with data scientists to understand infrastructure needs and provide solutions.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for AI/ML services and platforms.
