Placements24 is seeking a Remote Addiction Support Counselor to deliver virtual therapy across South Africa. The role involves one-on-one counseling, group sessions, and personalized treatment planning from a fully remote setting.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in a relevant field, at least 5 years of addiction counseling experience, and strong tele-health skills. You will support clients across South Africa with flexible, technology-driven care and a focus on evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent
• Registered with SA boards (HPCSA/SACSSP)
• Minimum 5 years in addiction counseling
• Experience delivering tele-health therapy
• Strong understanding of addiction recovery and co-occurring disorders
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting
• Commitment to client confidentiality and ethics

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of addiction-related issues and co-occurring conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Provide one-on-one counseling via secure video
• Facilitate virtual support groups and psychoeducation sessions
• Utilize evidence-based approaches (CBT, DBT, MI)
• Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
• Provide crisis intervention and support
• Maintain confidential client records per regulations
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals
• Educate clients and families about addiction, recovery and relapse prevention
• Stay updated with tele-health practices and treatments
