Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Remote Addiction Support Counselor to deliver virtual therapy and counseling for clients across South Africa.

You will conduct assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide individual counseling via secure video conferencing, including group sessions. Strong tele-health proficiency and 5+ years in addiction counseling are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
• Registered with HPCSA/SACSSP or relevant SA board.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in addiction counseling.
• Experience delivering therapy via tele-health platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of addiction disorders, treatment modalities, and recovery principles.
• Excellent verbal, written, and virtual communication skills.
• Proficiency with tele-health software and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' addiction-related issues and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to client needs.
• Provide individual counseling sessions via secure video conferencing.
• Facilitate virtual support groups and psychoeducational sessions.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI) in counseling.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and treatment providers as necessary.
• Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention.
• Stay current with advancements in addiction treatment and tele-health practices.
• Ensure ethical and professional conduct in all client interactions.
