Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Reliability Mechanical Engineer to enhance the longevity and performance of their mechanical systems in Mossel Bay . This role focuses on proactively identifying potential failure modes, implementing strategies to prevent them, and optimizing system uptime. You will conduct failure analysis, develop maintenance programs, and contribute to design improvements that enhance product reliability. The ideal candidate has a keen analytical mind, experience with reliability methodologies, and a commitment to ensuring the robust operation of critical equipment. You will be a key player in maintaining operational excellence and reducing costly downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement reliability centered maintenance (RCM) strategies and programs.
• Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and address potential issues.
• Analyze equipment performance data, maintenance records, and failure histories to predict future reliability.
• Develop predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.
• Recommend design modifications and operational improvements to enhance equipment reliability and lifespan.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for reliability and track progress towards targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on reliability, maintenance, or asset management.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering principles , statistical analysis, and predictive maintenance technologies.
• Experience with FMEA, RCA, and RCM methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is advantageous for this role in Mossel Bay .
