About the Role

Our client is a reputable organization dedicated to assisting individuals in their recovery from substance abuse, and they are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Rehabilitation Support Officer to join their remote team. This fully remote role involves providing vital support and guidance to clients navigating their recovery journey. You will be a key point of contact, offering encouragement, connecting clients with resources, and monitoring their progress. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of addiction and recovery principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously from a remote location. The focus is on supporting individuals who may be located anywhere, including within regions like Upington, Northern Cape , but the work itself is entirely remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote support and counselling to clients undergoing substance abuse rehabilitation.
• Develop and implement individualized recovery plans in collaboration with clients.
• Offer motivational support and encouragement to clients throughout their recovery process.
• Monitor client progress, including adherence to treatment plans and identification of potential relapse triggers.
• Connect clients with relevant community resources, support groups, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records using secure, encrypted digital platforms.
• Educate clients on relapse prevention strategies and coping mechanisms.
• Conduct virtual check-ins and therapy sessions via video conferencing and phone.
• Collaborate with a remote multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive client care.
• Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in addiction treatment and recovery.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; certification in addiction counselling is a significant advantage.
• Proven experience working with individuals struggling with substance abuse and in recovery support.
• Strong understanding of addiction, recovery models, and therapeutic interventions.
• Exceptional empathy, active listening, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using virtual communication tools and digital record-keeping systems.
• Ability to manage a remote caseload effectively and maintain professional boundaries.
