Faircape Health in the Western Cape is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Night Shift across Tokai Estate, Cle Du Cap and Noordhoek Manor. The role requires rotating between facilities to ensure consistent, high‑quality nursing care during night hours.

You will lead nursing tasks, supervise shifts, implement care plans, and coordinate with the MDT to support recovery and ongoing resident wellbeing. SANC registration is required, BLS is advantageous.

Qualifications

• SANC registered nurse status is required.

Faircape Health operates leading Sub-Acute Care and Long-Term Care facilities across the Western Cape, providing restorative care and rehabilitation for patients recovering from a variety of medical conditions, including neurological, orthopaedic, surgical, frail care, and respite care needs. Across our healthcare centres, the focus is on supporting patients through recovery, rehabilitation, and ongoing care within a structured and therapeutic environment.

The services of an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse (Night Shift – Pool) are required to work across three of our healthcare facilities within the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town – Tokai Estate, Cle Du Cap, and Noordhoek Manor.

This position requires flexibility to rotate between facilities based on operational requirements, ensuring continuity of quality nursing care and support across our healthcare centres during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Tasks

• Develop and implement individualised care plans for each resident.
• Conduct regular reviews and updates of care plans to reflect residents' evolving health conditions.
• Ensure care plans align with both the medical and personal needs of residents.
• Monitor staff compliance with care plans and established protocols.
• Conduct high-risk assessments and accurately document essential information.
• Uphold best-practice methods and principles in all clinical tasks performed within the facilities.
• Ensure the safe and proper administration of medication by yourself and nursing staff, adhering to established medication management procedures.
• Ensure medication is appropriately stored and blister packs are managed according to procedures.
• When required, implement and maintain infection control protocols.
• Manage stock, including adjusting par levels and restocking items in the supply cupboard when required.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and effective handovers between night and day shift teams.

Emergency and Incident Management

• Follow established policies in the event of emergencies, including contacting Emergency Services where required for the healthcare facility or village.
• Act according to patients’ living wills or advance directives during emergencies or resuscitation efforts.
• Ensure the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and families are promptly informed of any incidents or resident deaths.

Requirements

Qualifications

• SANC registered as a Registered Nurse.
• Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is advantageous.

Experience and Knowledge

• Proven experience as a Shift Leader / Duty Sister.
• Experience in a similar position.
• Knowledge of dementia care, frail care, and palliative care is advantageous.
• Proficiency in organising and delivering training sessions for staff development.
• Experience in scheduling and managing staff shifts.
• Willingness and ability to work across multiple healthcare facilities as operationally required.

Working Hours

• Normal working days are Monday to Sunday.
• You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month.
• Night shifts are from 19h00 – 07h00.
• You will be required to rotate between the three facilities based on operational needs and staffing requirements.
