Job summary

RecruitSmith is assisting a newly established private care home in Somerset West to recruit a Registered Nurse (RN) / Nursing Manager. The successful candidate will lead the nursing function and ensure exceptional, person-centred care for residents.

You will oversee nursing services, mentor the team, and develop care plans while ensuring compliance with standards and legislation. The role requires an on-call roster, including occasional weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• RN qualification and active SANC registration are required.
• Experience in nursing management/supervisory roles is essential.
• Experience in elderly/frail/residential care is advantageous.

Newly Established Care Home | Somerset West

Salary: R32,000 – R35,000 per month

RecruitSmith is recruiting on behalf of a newly established private care home for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) / Nursing Manager to lead the nursing function and ensure exceptional, person-centred care for residents.

The facility has 11 rooms accommodating up to 13 residents, providing an opportunity for the successful candidate to play an important role in establishing and maintaining high standards of care from the outset.

THE ROLE

As Nursing Manager, you will oversee the nursing services and lead the nursing team while ensuring residents receive safe, dignified and personalised care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and manage all nursing services and standards of resident care.

• Develop, implement and evaluate nursing policies, procedures and protocols.

• Facilitate new resident admissions and develop appropriate individualised care plans.

• Lead, mentor and supervise the nursing team.

• Ensure compliance with nursing legislation, professional standards and best-practice guidelines.

• Monitor quality of care and implement improvements where required.

• Manage nursing staff, rosters and resource allocation.

• Ensure the appropriate use and care of medical equipment, supplies and consumables.

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external service providers.

• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and effective communication with residents and families.

• Promote a culture of safety, dignity, respect and continuous improvement.

• Coordinate supporting services including meals, laundry and other resident requirements.

• Participate in an on-call roster, including occasional weekends and nights when required.

• Represent the organisation professionally within the community.

• Perform other reasonable duties within the scope of practice and requirements of the position.

REQUIREMENTS

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification

• Current registration with SANC

• Previous nursing management / supervisory experience

• Experience working within an elderly care, frail care, residential care or similar environment would be advantageous.

• Strong understanding of nursing standards, legislation and compliance requirements.

• Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage a nursing team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong administrative and documentation skills.

• Ability to develop and implement individualised care plans.

• Compassionate, professional and resident-focused approach.

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within scope of practice.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call arrangement when required.
