Job summary

Ons Huis, a Badisa programme, invites applications for a Registered Head Nurse. The role emphasises compliance with the Nursing Act, leadership of staff, and holistic care for residents in our facility.

You will oversee medication administration, liaise with the multidisciplinary team and families, maintain records, and develop procedures. Afrikaans and English communication skills are essential; SANC registration is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Knowledge of medication administration and control.
• Understanding of relevant legislation, norms and standards.
• Excellent Afrikaans and English communication.
• Proficient computer literacy and planning skills.
• Certified copies of certificates/diplomas incl. SANC receipts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Nursing Act, Scope of Practice and Older Persons Act.
• Implement applicable legislation and regulations.
• Facilitate and manage staff.
• Provide care for residents and liaise with families.
• Develop and implement procedures, manuals and information materials.
• Maintain statistics, prepare reports and board meeting records.

Ons Huis, a programme of Badisa, has a vacancy for a Registered Head Nurse.

REQUIREMENTS

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Knowledge of the administration and control of scheduled medication.
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, norms and standards.
• Good interpersonal skills and effective communication skills in both Afrikaans and English.
• Good knowledge of holistic care for older persons.
• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Certified copies of all certificates and diplomas, not older than three months, including the SANC receipt and relevant training certificates.
• Professional indemnity insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Compliance with the Nursing Act, the Scope of Practice and the Older Persons Act.
