Job summary

LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable platforms supporting critical products and services in Johannesburg and beyond. You will collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to automate and improve reliability, incident response, and observability.

You will lead platform engineering initiatives, define SLIs/SLOs, and embed security into CI/CD pipelines while driving DevOps and DevSecOps

Qualifications

• Equivalent practical experience in Site Reliability Engineering or related roles.
• Experience building internal tools and developer platforms.
• Hands-on DevOps with CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
• Experience with DevSecOps and security automation.
• Strong knowledge of networking and distributed systems.
• Experience with incident response and postmortems.
• Experience with AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools.
• Familiarity with observability and security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Lead platform engineering initiatives, including internal developer platforms, self-service tooling, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
• Drive DevOps and DevSecOps practices, embedding automated security scanning, compliance checks, and secure-by-default configurations into CI/CD pipelines.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets; use them to guide engineering priorities and reliability investments.
• Own incident management, including on-call leadership, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
• Design, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Automate operational workflows to reduce manual toil and improve system resilience.
• Architect and implement observability solutions to improve visibility and accelerate detection and resolution.
