Job summary

SA Metal Group in Gauteng seeks a highly driven Senior Procurement Buyer to support procurement operations. Reporting to the Group Procurement Manager, you will lead end-to-end procurement, drive cost savings, monitor supplier performance and improve operations.

The role demands hands-on leadership, strong negotiation skills, and proven track record in industrial/manufacturing procurement, with experience in MRP/ERP systems. A Diploma or Degree in procurement or related field is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in procurement, supply chain, or related field.
• Strong negotiation and cost management abilities.
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end procurement activities within the region, negotiate pricing, rates, and contracts.
• Achieve savings targets, conduct market analysis and benchmarking to improve efficiency.
• Build and strengthen supplier relationships; monitor SLA performance.
• Oversee stores operations including receiving, issuing and stock control.
• Manage daily MRP activities to ensure stock availability and timely replenishment.
• Conduct cycle counts and generate timely reports for management.
• Provide guidance to procurement and stores personnel under the National Procurement manager.
• Drive national procurement savings through strategic sourcing and cost-reduction programs.
