Job summary

RiseUp Group in Cape Town seeks a Principal Engineer to safeguard regional engineering assets and lead the local team. You will ensure assets are maintained, operated to specs, and aligned with contract standards, while driving lifecycle improvements.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in electrical/mechanical engineering and 5+ years in facilities management, with leadership experience and a valid Code B license for regional travel.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree(s) required with professional registration preferred.
• PrEng/PrTech and GCC Factories certifications are advantageous.
• Minimum 7 years in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in facilities management.
• Experience leading engineering teams and performance management.
• Experience in asset management, maintenance planning and RCA.
• Experience with contractual service standards and client specs.
• Valid Code B driver’s license and willingness to travel in WC.

Responsibilities

• Act as custodian of the engineering assets in the region.
• Ensure life cycle and enhancement services for all assets.
• Maintain assets to required operational specifications.
• Ensure services are maintained per client agreements.
• Take legal responsibility for engineering functions and assets in the region.
• Implement maintenance and operational standards as specified.
• Report on asset and building status in the region.
• Manage innovation initiatives to improve availability and life cycle.
• Lead and develop regional engineering staff.
