Job description

We are looking for an experienced, results-driven Regional Hub Manager to drive regional sell-out performance, maximize store-level execution, and grow brand footprint. In this role, you will lead a dedicated field sales team, manage retail assets and mapping, and cultivate strong business relationships with store owners, retail managers, and client stakeholders.

Key Performance Areas & Deliverables
1. Sell-Out Strategy & Volume Growth
  • Target Achievement: Translate regional sales targets per store, brand, and target market segment into actionable, daily team priorities.
  • Stock & Space Management: Monitor product movement (fast vs. slow movers), adjust forward share accordingly, and negotiate store floor space based on rate-of-sales.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, manage out-of-stocks, oversee return/damaged goods processes, and push for adequate store ordering to prevent lost sales.
  • Cross-Merchandising & Pricing: Identify in-store cross-merchandising opportunities, track pricing compliance, and report market anomalies promptly.
2. Promotional Execution & Point-of-Purchase (POP)
  • Campaign Delivery: Plan, negotiate, and execute promotional grids, ad-hoc campaigns, and high-impact blitz activities within agreed timeframes.
  • POS & Branding: Secure prime POS positioning, negotiate display space with store management, and ensure full compliance with client POP briefs.
  • Competitor Intelligence: Monitor competitor promotions, launches, and pricing strategies, providing visual and written feedback to key stakeholders.
3. Retail Asset Management & Speed-to-Market
  • New Product Introductions (NPI): Fast-track the distribution and in-store listing of new product lines, equipping store managers and sales consultants with sales presenters and product knowledge.
  • Asset Maintenance: Safeguard, track, and maintain all regional retail display assets, interactive units, and branded installations via monthly audits.
  • Planogram Compliance: Drive shelf health, ensuring store-specific planograms, category flows, and market share representation meet client standards.
4. Field Team & People Leadership
  • Team Management: Lead, recruit, induct, and mentor a high-performing field sales team (including Product Consultants and Brand Ambassadors).
  • Performance & Development: Oversee performance management, appraisals, commission calculations, succession planning, and EE targets within your regional hub.
  • Training & Compliance: Enforce call-cycle compliance, conduct regular team meetings, and drive attendance at technical product training sessions.
  • Employee Relations: Manage leave, handle grievance and disciplinary procedures when required, and foster an accountable, motivated workplace culture.
5. Operations, Reporting & Data Management
  • Data & Field Tech: Ensure full compliance with handheld system data capturing (e.g., MCS app uploads) for yourself and direct reports.
  • Analytics & Audits: Conduct weekly store audits, review retail mapping data, and analyze sell-out analytics to build targeted improvement plans.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the primary escalation point for regional operational "red flags" and operational roadblocks.
6. Budget & Financial Control
  • Maintain strict expense control over operational allowances, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, travel, and mobile phone expenses.
  • Manage regional discretionary promotional budgets to ensure optimal return on investment (ROI).
  • Ensure accurate monthly salary inputs, expense claims, and asset register compliance.
7. Stakeholder Relationship Management
  • Build trusted, long-term partnerships with store managers, regional retail leaders, and client management.
  • Lead regular operational review meetings, presenting performance insights, market share trends, and strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Relevant Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7).
  • Experience:
  • 4-5 years' sales experience in Consumer Electronics, Cellular, or FMCG.
  • Minimum 2 years in a Managerial or Supervisory role leading field sales teams.
  • Licensing: Valid Driver's License (Code 08) and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
Core Competencies & Skills
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to turn field data and sell-out reports into actionable sales initiatives.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of retail economics, inventory pressure, margin, and promotional ROI.
  • Leadership & Influence: Outstanding people management skills with a proven track record of motivating teams and negotiating prime floor space.
  • Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to stay focused under pressure, navigate complex retail environments, and manage change effectively.
