Our client, a prominent real estate investment firm with significant operations in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a sharp and analytical Real Estate Investment Analyst to join their expanding team. This position is integral to our client's investment strategy, focusing on the identification, evaluation, and execution of profitable real estate ventures across various property sectors within Durban and its environs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong financial acumen, a keen understanding of real estate market dynamics, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable investment recommendations. This hybrid role requires a balance of in-office strategic planning and market analysis, alongside property site visits and client meetings within the Durban area.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth financial analysis and modelling for potential real estate acquisitions and developments.
• Perform market research and feasibility studies to assess investment opportunities in Durban's property market.
• Evaluate property portfolios, market trends, and economic indicators impacting investment performance.
• Prepare detailed investment memorandums, reports, and presentations for the investment committee.
• Assist in the due diligence process for acquisitions, including site visits and property inspections in KwaZulu-Natal.
• Monitor the performance of existing investments and provide recommendations for asset management strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, developers, lenders, and other industry stakeholders in Durban.
• Stay current with real estate investment best practices, market news, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related quantitative field.
• A Master's degree or CFA charter is a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in real estate investment analysis, corporate finance, or a related field.
• Strong financial modelling skills, including DCF, LBO, and sensitivity analysis.
• Comprehensive understanding of real estate valuation methods and market analysis techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, REIS).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with the Durban commercial and residential property market is highly desirable.
