Placements24 is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer, Research and Development, to join their Vereeniging-based team. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and focuses on driving new product development and process innovation through rigorous research and experimental work.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical understanding of chemical engineering principles, coupled with hands-on laboratory experience and the ability to scale promising technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in chemical engineering R&D.
• Hands-on laboratory experimentation and data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, kinetics and transport phenomena.
• Experience with process simulation software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments to investigate new chemical processes and products.
• Analyze data and interpret results to inform recommendations.
• Develop and optimize lab-scale processes focusing on efficiency, safety, and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on R&D projects.
• Assist in scaling up processes from lab to pilot scale.
• Maintain lab records and prepare technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment.
• Stay current with literature and emerging technologies in chemical engineering.
• Contribute to IP development and patent applications.
