Job summary

Shift Pursuit in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial and financial aspects of multiple construction projects from inception through final accounts.

You will prepare cost plans, BOQs, tender documents, monitor budgets and contractor claims, and implement cost control measures while liaising with clients and contractors to ensure delivery on budget and to specification.

Qualifications

• BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying is required.
• Post-qualification experience in commercial and industrial construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost plans, estimates and feasibility reports during planning and design stages.
• Compile and administer Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and contract-related documentation.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditure and implement cost control throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and measurements for construction projects.
• Assess and process contractor claims, variations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and implement practical cost management strategies.
• Assist with procurement activities and supplier negotiations.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and financial information to support project funding requirements.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure contractual compliance throughout project execution.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
