Job summary

Sentinel Staffing Services is seeking a seasoned Quality Control/Quality Management Leader for our client in Mpumalanga. You will lead the QC team across all shifts, drive QMS development, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and FSSC 22000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Biochemistry or related field.
• 57 years experience in Quality Control/Quality Management.
• 23 years supervisory or management experience.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP or FSSC 22000.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Quality Control team across all shifts.
• Develop, implement and maintain the QMS.
• Ensure ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and FSSC 22000 compliance.
• Manage internal and external audits and corrective actions.
• Oversee product inspections, testing, release and non-conformance management.
• Conduct root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Manage regulatory and licensing compliance, including environmental and operational licences.
• Develop SOPs, policies, work instructions and quality documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement, waste reduction and process optimisation.
• Monitor quality KPIs and report to senior management.
• Lead, coach, train and develop the quality team.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Procurement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and FSSC 22000 requirements. Manage internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Oversee product inspections, testing, product release, and non-conformance management. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions. Manage regulatory and licensing compliance, including environmental and operational licences. Develop and maintain SOPs, policies, work instructions, and quality documentation. Drive continuous improvement, waste reduction, and process optimisation. Monitor quality KPIs and report performance to senior management. Lead, coach, train, and develop the quality team. Manage customer complaints and supplier quality matters. Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Procurement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Biochemistry , or a related field. 57 years experience in Quality Control/Quality Management. At least 23 years experience in a supervisory or management role . Strong experience with QMS, audits, compliance, and food safety. Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP or FSSC 22000 . Experience in the food processing or rendering industry will be highly advantageous. Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
