Job summary

Puratos is seeking a QC Technologist at our Gauteng branch in Johannesburg to join the Quality team. You will ensure product quality, food safety, and aesthetics throughout manufacturing, and monitor CCPs and GMP compliance.

The role emphasizes sample retention, documentation, and collaboration with production and QA teams. The ideal candidate has a degree or national diploma in Food Technology and 1–2 years of QC experience in food manufacturing, with strong analytical and communication skills

Qualifications

• Matric and Degree or a National Diploma in Food Technology or relevant qualification.
• At least 1–2 years proven experience in QC - food manufacturing.
• Proven analytical strengths.
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Good English communication; additional languages a plus.
• Reading/writing comprehension required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lab retention sample and sampling plan for all products.
• Monitor quality, food safety and aesthetics throughout manufacturing and CCPs.
• Perform sanitation verification and allergen testing.
• Record and file all relevant logs and documentation.
• Perform QC analysis on raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
• Participate in internal audits, GMP audits and process verifications.

Position Overview

Based at our Gauteng branch , in oder to further strengthen our Quality team, we are currently seeking a:

QC TECHNOLOGIST – (Johannesburg, South Africa)

Reporting directly to the QC Manager, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:

• Ensure quality, food safety and aesthetics of the product.
• Follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.

III. – KEY TASKS

• Responsible for monitoring and product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Responsible for monitoring critical control points (CCP).
• Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.
• Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.
• Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and Documentation.
• Perform QC analysis on raw material, in process and finished goods
• Participate in internal audits, GMP audits, process verification audits
• Ensures employees are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.
• Ensures and educates employees on food safety and SQF standards.
• Responsible to issue disciplinary action when directed.
• Maintain lab retention sample
• Maintain sampling plan for all products.
• Perform inspections on Products, Equipment and Machinery.

Iv. – Job Requirements

• Matric and Degree or a National Diploma in Food Technology or relevant qualification
• At least 1 – 2 years’ proven experience in QC - food manufacturing environment
• Proven analytical strengths and experience
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Creative, innovative, and service-oriented with a collaborative mindset
• Good communication skills - English is a prerequisite - ability to read and write; additional language(s) an advantage.
• Written comprehension – the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
