Placements24 is seeking a Purchasing Officer to manage procurement of raw materials at a Richards Bay facility. You will forecast material needs, source suppliers, and maintain inventory levels to support production.

The role requires collaboration with Production, Quality, and Logistics to ensure timely, cost-effective supply. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in purchasing, a related degree, strong negotiation skills, and experience with ERP and MS Office.

Formación

• 3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in raw materials or industrial supplies.
• Strong understanding of procurement principles and supplier management.
• Experience with ERP systems and MS Office.
• Based in or willing to commute to Richards Bay with hybrid work.
• Knowledge of the local South African supplier market is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage supplier relationships and performance, addressing any issues proactively.

• Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently using the company's ERP system.
• Collaborate with internal departments, including Production, Quality Control, and Logistics, to ensure alignment.
• Ensure compliance with all company purchasing policies and procedures.
• Track market trends for raw materials to anticipate price fluctuations and supply disruptions.
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, preferably with a focus on raw materials or industrial supplies.
• Good understanding of procurement principles, negotiation tactics, and supplier management.
• Experience using ERP systems and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be based in or willing to commute to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal , with hybrid work flexibility.
• Knowledge of the local South African supplier market is advantageous.
• A proactive approach to managing supply chains and resolving issues.
