Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, environmental health, sanitation inspection, or related regulatory field.
• Thorough knowledge of sanitation principles, food safety regulations, infectious disease transmission, and environmental health hazards.
• Ability to interpret and enforce complex regulations and codes.
• Excellent observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Polokwane region.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of food establishments, public facilities, and other premises to ensure compliance with sanitation and health codes in Polokwane.
• Investigate public health nuisances and complaints related to sanitation, food safety, and environmental hazards.
• Educate business owners, operators, and the public on proper sanitation practices and regulatory requirements.
• Identify violations of health codes and regulations, issuing notices and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, violations, and recommended remedial measures.
• Collaborate with other health department personnel and external agencies on public health initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.

• Stay updated on current public health laws, regulations, and best practices in environmental sanitation.
