Job summary

Valterra Platinum in Mototolo is seeking a CCTV security officer to monitor cameras, assess breaches and guide protection services in the control room. You will check safety issues, evaluate incidents and compile irregularity reports. Requirements include Grade 12, PSIRA Grade B, and a minimum of 2 years’ security experience with CCTV.

You must be computer literate and able to respond to emergencies. A polygraph test is required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric is required.
• PSIRA Grade B registration is mandatory.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a security environment.
• Experience with CCTV surveillance and control room operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor camera range for movement of criminal activity.
• Ensure adherence to procedures and notify management of deviations.

Job Description

Electronic access into control room, monitoring cameras to reduce theft using CCTV systems. Responsible for application of CCTV and control room functions. Checking security violations and safety issues. Monitoring, analysing and incident conditions. Checking hotspots. They also responsible for the communication and effective guidance of protection services responses under incident and emergency conditions. Responsible to compile irregularity reports. The role reports to the Shift Protection Services Superintendent / Protection Officer.

Key Responsibilities Of This Role Are

• Evaluate actions and potential security breaches with reference to departmental best practice requirements and mine regulations
• Monitor movement of criminal activities within the optimal range of cameras
• Monitor adherence to procedure and standards and notify management of deviations
• Evidence gathering when an incident has occurred within the designated area of responsibility
• Gather and record evidence on incident events through the use of electronic equipment
• Record suspicious behaviour or incidents for review and investigation
• Complete incident reports
• Monitor alarms in mining areas
• Review surveillance tapes to detect possible incidents in low risk and other areas
• Complete and update security logs

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric
• Registered with the PSIRA on Grade B

Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in security environment
• CCTV surveillance systems and control room experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Handling of various emergency situations
• Observation skills
• Basic understanding of camera technology
• Computer literate
• Knowledge of production layout, production process and work activities
• Knowledge of handling alarms and organise effective response
