Job summary

Sandvik Mining is seeking a skilled service technician to install, repair, inspect and commission mining equipment in Gauteng. You will perform pre-delivery and on-site testing, provide technical support to the sales team, and ensure OEM standards are met.

The role requires a Grade 12, a Trade Certificate of Competence (Diesel Mechanic/Auto Electrical/Millwright), 4 years of experience in mechanised mining equipment, and a valid Code 08 license. Travel and overtime are expected.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent required.
• Trade certificate qualifications in diesel mechanics, auto electrical or millwright.
• Minimum 4 years of experience with mechanised mining equipment.
• Experience in underground mining environments and earth-moving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Pre delivery inspections to ensure OEM compliance and order-specific requirements.
• Machine testing and on-site commissioning.
• Provide customer training on use of manuals and commissioning data packs.
• Monitor machine performance post-commissioning to meet OEM and customer expectations.
• Prepare commissioning reports for Account Manager and Customer.
• Develop Smart Services offerings and provide on-site technical assistance.
• Process warranty claims arising during PDI or commissioning.
• Ensure machines meet production standards per OEM specs.
• Review information packs for technical accuracy.
• Support workshops/field service during low workload periods.
• Conduct machine audits.

The Role:

To get customer satisfaction by installing, repairing, inspecting and commissioning service, considering economical and other aspects. Problem solving by using of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately in different kinds of situations. Knowledge of the tasks, tools and procedures associated with providing technical support to the sales team and prospective customers.

Key Performance Areas:

• Pre delivery inspections to ensure machine complies to OEM standards as well as order on works requirements
• Machine testing
• On-site commissioning of Machines which includes:
• customer training on use of electronic and paper manuals
• hand over of commissioning data pack
• monitoring of machine over an appropriate period to ensure that it performs to OEM and customer expectations
• Commissioning report for Account Manager and Customer (Site Conditions, Asset Performance, Site Production/Maintenance Risks)
• Develop Smart Services
• Provide on-site technical assistance to resolve issues during commissioning
• Process warranty claims in the event of any failure that occurs during PDI or Commissioning
• Ensure that machine delivers to OEM specified production standards
• Routine review of information packs that are supplied as part of commissioning to ensure they are technically appropriate
• Assist workshops/field service/Asset Agreement during times of low work load in commissioning team
• Machine Audits

Your Profile:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• Trade Certificate of Competence - Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrical, Millwright
• 4 years experience with Mechanised Mining Equipment
• Underground mining environment, maintaining of earth moving equipment
• Code 08 license
• Full physical & medical certificate to work in mining environment
