Job summary

RPO Recruitment is seeking a senior Package Manager to lead Electrical, Control & Instrumentation in Johannesburg. You will own ECI work packages, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure delivery within safety, quality, cost and schedule parameters in a mining EPCM setting.

You will work directly with clients and senior stakeholders, applying strong project and contract management skills, including FIDIC/ NEC forms, to drive successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• PMP or PRINCE II certification.
• Minimum 10 years in Design, Project Management and E, C & I Construction Management.
• Proven contract administration experience within mining-focused EPCM environments.
• Proven track record managing complex mining infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of electrical, control and instrumentation work packages.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects within safety, quality, cost and schedule constraints.
• Engage with clients and senior stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
• Oversee MSP-based planning, budgeting, risk mitigation and contract administration.

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy specializing in mining projects, is seeking an accomplished Package Manager to lead their Electrical, Control & Instrumentation division in Johannesburg. This senior role offers the opportunity to oversee major mining infrastructure projects from design through to delivery, working within a dynamic EPCM framework.

The Role

As Package Manager, you will take full ownership of electrical, control, and instrumentation work packages, managing multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring successful project delivery within stringent safety, quality, cost, and schedule parameters. You'll work directly with clients and senior stakeholders while leading technical and construction teams to achieve exceptional project outcomes.

Requirements:

• BSc / BTech Engineering (Electrical Engineering)
• PMP or PRINCE II certification
• Minimum 10 years in Design, Project Management, and E, C & I Construction Management
• Proven contract administration experience within mining-focused EPCM environments
• Demonstrated track record managing complex mining infrastructure projects

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Expertise:

• HT overhead transmission lines and outdoor switching stations
• MV substations, MCCs, transformers, and MV distribution systems
• Mini-subs, LT reticulation, and earthing systems
• Data network architecture, backbone infrastructure, and VOIP
• Microwave communication towers
• Understanding of MHSA, OHSA regulations, and NEMA compliance

Project Management Skills:

• Comprehensive project planning and scheduling (MSP proficiency essential)
• Budget management and cost control implementation
• Risk identification and mitigation strategy development
