Placements24 is seeking a Project Manager with specialized experience in water and sanitation infrastructure to join our Upington team. You will oversee planning, design, and implementation of water supply, wastewater treatment, and sanitation projects, coordinating with engineers, authorities, contractors, and communities.

The ideal candidate has a strong civil engineering background and a proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget, while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in water and sanitation project management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Experience delivering water treatment, distribution, and sewage infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle of water and sanitation projects, from conceptualization and design through to construction and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, budgets, resource allocation, and timelines.
• Oversee the procurement process for materials, equipment, and contractor services.
• Ensure projects comply with all relevant engineering standards, environmental regulations, and health and safety protocols.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
• Engage with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure project support and acceptance.

About the Role

You will work closely with engineers, government officials, contractors, and community stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and meet community needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in civil engineering and a proven ability to manage complex infrastructure projects in this essential sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of water and sanitation projects, from conceptualization and design through to construction and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, budgets, resource allocation, and timelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience in managing infrastructure projects such as water treatment plants, distribution networks, and sewage systems.
• Knowledge of relevant South African water and sanitation regulations and standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and civil engineering design principles.
