Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Project Manager in East London to oversee logistics and distribution projects, optimize supply chain operations, and reduce warehousing and transportation costs. • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation, with at least 3 years in a dedicated project management role.
• Experience managing projects focused on operational efficiency, cost reduction, or network optimization within logistics.
• Strong understanding of WMS, TMS, and inventory control principles.
• Lean or Six Sigma familiarity is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed project plans for logistics and distribution initiatives, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Oversee the execution of projects related to warehouse operations, fleet management, route optimization, and inventory control.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the logistics and distribution functions.
• Collaborate with warehouse managers, transportation teams, and supply chain partners.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts with 3PL providers, carriers, and technology suppliers.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and best practices in Eastern Cape logistics.
• Track KPIs for logistics and distribution projects and report outcomes to senior management.
• Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders.

About the Role Our client, a leading retail and distribution company based in East London, Eastern Cape , is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee critical logistics and distribution projects. This role is instrumental in optimizing supply chain operations, improving efficiency, and reducing costs associated with warehousing, transportation, and delivery. You will manage projects aimed at enhancing our distribution network, implementing new logistics technologies, and ensuring seamless operations across the region. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex projects within a demanding operational environment. This position requires your presence in our East London facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively on-site in East London and manage project timelines rigorously.
• APICS or PMP certification is a strong plus.
