Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee large industrial projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will guide feasibility studies through to handover, ensuring safety, schedule and budget adherence while coordinating engineers, technicians and contractors.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of industrial project leadership, a related engineering degree, and strong communication skills; PMP is a plus. A hybrid work setup and opportunities for professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of project management experience in industrial/heavy engineering contexts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or related technical discipline; PMP certification is advantageous.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex supply chains; strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, scheduling and execution of complex industrial projects from inception to completion.
• Manage scope, resources, budgets and timelines to meet objectives.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, construction, suppliers and stakeholders for seamless delivery.
• Implement risk management to mitigate project delays and cost overruns.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Project Manager to oversee challenging industrial projects in the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal region. This role involves managing the full spectrum of industrial project lifecycles, from initial feasibility studies and detailed engineering design through to procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, coordinating a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and contractors. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to major industrial developments and drive operational excellence within a growing sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of complex industrial projects from inception to successful completion.
• Manage project scope, resources, budgets, and timelines, ensuring all project deliverables meet defined objectives.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, construction teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Implement robust risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential issues affecting project progress.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance protocols on project sites.
• Communicate project progress, key milestones, and challenges regularly to senior management and project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management , with a strong focus on industrial or heavy engineering projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred) or a related technical discipline; PMP certification is highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams and complex supply chains.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools relevant to industrial projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, site-based environment in Richards Bay .
