Job summary

Weir in Johannesburg, Alrode, is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the full project lifecycle from hand-over to client delivery. You will coordinate with product specialists, sales teams, and regional branches to support transport and commissioning activities, develop schedules, and ensure compliance with HSE standards.

Ideal candidates hold a BSc/B Tech in Mechanical Engineering with ≥3 years of project management, strong ERP and MS Office skills, and excellent communication. PMP is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSc/B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of three years of project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire project lifecycle from internal hand-over to customer delivery, ensuring deliverables meet client specs, timelines and budgets.
• Engage with clients on technical and commercial matters and provide regular project status updates.
• Coordinate with product specialists, sales teams and regional branches to support transport and commissioning activities.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensure adherence to HSE and housekeeping standards.
• Occasional travel to client sites or regional offices to support delivery and coordination.

What you’ll do

• Project Management: Manage the entire project lifecycle from internal hand-over to customer delivery, ensuring all deliverables such as Data packs and O&M manuals meet client specifications, timelines, and budgets.
• Technical and Commercial Engagement: Engage proactively with clients on technical and commercial matters, maintaining clear communication and providing regular project status updates.
• Team Coordination: Collaborate with internal product specialists, sales teams, and regional branches to support transport and commissioning activities. Drive project schedules and coordinate resources to meet agreed deadlines.
• Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, conduct post-project negotiations, and ensure adherence to HSE and housekeeping standards.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to client sites or regional offices to support project delivery and coordination.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

• BSc/B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Nice-to-have(s):

• PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification.
