The Green Recruitment Company is seeking an experienced Project Developer in South Africa to drive behind-the-meter / C&I renewable energy projects. You will own assessments, finance models and client engagement from early stage through delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams and communicating with senior stakeholders.

The role requires a numerate degree, 5+ years in renewable energy or related fields, and strong Excel/PowerPoint capabilities to deliver robust commercial recommendations

• 5+ years of professional experience in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or project development.
• Proven experience with behind-the-meter / C&I energy projects is advantageous.
• Strong project financial modelling and commercial analysis skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and client presentation abilities.
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

An exciting opportunity is available with a growing renewable energy business developing and operating clean energy projects for some of South Africa’s largest industrial energy users. We are looking for an experienced Project Developer with strong exposure to behind-the-meter / C&I renewable energy projects, who is comfortable operating at the intersection of project development, commercial analysis, financial modelling and client engagement.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can understand the technical and commercial fundamentals of an energy project, communicate confidently with stakeholders, and take ownership of projects from early-stage assessment through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage behind-the-meter / C&I renewable energy projects, including Solar PV, BESS and other clean energy technologies

• Work directly with clients to understand energy requirements and develop appropriate project solutions

• Lead project assessments, feasibility studies and quantitative analysis

• Develop and maintain project financial models, budgets and commercial assessments

• Report on key financial and project performance metrics to clients and internal stakeholders

• Support the development of renewable energy strategies for industrial and commercial clients

• Coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors and other third-party stakeholders

• Manage project timelines, deliverables, risks and commercial considerations

• Prepare high-quality presentations, reports and recommendations for senior client stakeholders

• Support projects through development, investment and delivery stages

• Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships

What we're looking for:

• Degree in a numerate discipline such as Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Science or a related field

• 5+ years' professional experience, ideally within renewable energy, energy infrastructure, project development, consulting or a related sector

• Proven experience with C&I / behind-the-meter energy projects is highly advantageous

• Strong understanding of project financial modelling and commercial analysis

• Comfortable presenting financial and project information to clients and senior stakeholders

• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear, commercially relevant recommendations

• Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work independently

• Commercially minded with strong attention to detail and a problem-solving approach
