Marvel Placement Consultants is seeking an experienced Project Construction Manager for a mining project in Mooinooi, North West. You will provide dedicated site supervision and oversee contractors to ensure compliance with project specs, safety standards and schedules.

The role requires strong mining industry experience, proven contractor management, and the ability to coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, Plant Operations and Safety teams to deliver projects safely and on time.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in engineering or construction management disciplines.
• 7+ years of mining/plant construction or engineering project experience.
• Experience in construction site supervision and contractor management in mining or industrial projects.
• MHSA and OHSACT knowledge and compliance experience.
• Experience monitoring progress, schedules and milestones.
• Knowledge of contractor method statements, risk assessments, quality control and site safety.
• Experience with site inspections, daily diaries and progress reporting.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify safety risks and implement corrective actions.
• PM/CM certification is advantageous; rigging knowledge is advantageous.

Project Construction Manager - Mining Industry

A leading mining and metals producer based in Mooinooi, North West, is seeking an experienced Project Construction Manager to join its project team, reporting to the Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing dedicated site supervision and overseeing contractors during the execution of mining and plant-related construction projects. The role requires strong mining industry experience, with a focus on contractor management, construction progress, quality control and compliance with approved project specifications, safety standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Plant Operations and Safety teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within approved timeframes.

• National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Management; alternatively, a relevant Trade Test (Red Seal) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant project construction or construction management experience within the mining industry.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in mining, plant construction or engineering project environments.
• Demonstrable experience in construction site supervision and contractor management within mining or industrial projects.
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSACT).
• Experience monitoring construction progress, project schedules and key milestones.
• Knowledge of contractor method statements, risk assessments, quality control and site safety requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Contractor Management & Site Supervision

• Provide dedicated construction site supervision and support to the Project Manager.
• Manage and monitor contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved project scopes, specifications and company standards.
• Coordinate contractor onboarding and ensure all site access, safety and compliance requirements are met.
• Monitor contractor method statements, work procedures, tools and equipment compliance.
• Identify contractor performance issues and elevate non-compliance where necessary.

Health, Safety & Environmental Management

• Promote and maintain a strong SHE culture across all project construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with the MHSA, OHSACT and applicable mining safety regulations.
• Conduct and monitor site-specific and pre-work risk assessments.
• Ensure contractors comply with approved safety procedures and method statements.
• Facilitate toolbox talks and regular site safety inspections.
• Identify unsafe practices and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

Construction Quality & Project Progress

• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Track daily construction progress against the approved project schedule and milestones.
• Identify potential delays, risks and construction challenges and elevate these to the Project Manager.
• Ensure projects are executed within approved timeframes and quality requirements.
• Monitor contractor workmanship and address construction deviations.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate daily construction diaries, progress reports and site records.
• Ensure all construction, safety and quality documentation is properly maintained.
• Coordinate and maintain as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Ensure effective document control and reporting throughout project execution.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Plant Managers, Plant Operations and Safety teams.
• Liaise with contractors, OEMs and external service providers to coordinate construction activities.
• Communicate project progress, construction risks and site-related challenges to relevant stakeholders.
• Attend project coordination, construction progress and safety meetings.
• Provide practical construction support and elevate material project issues where required.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure construction activities comply with company standards, approved procedures, project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Promote accountability and adherence to mining safety and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve contractor performance, construction processes and site supervision.
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution, safety and service delivery.
