Job summary

Citra (citra.build) based in Cape Town is seeking a Professional Structural Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technologists to design and sign off Citra buildings and structures. You will design and sign off buildings and structures, focusing on project delivery and engineering management within an international team.

Collaborate with R&D and Excellence Departments to ensure successful project outcomes, using Citra Building Technologies and new materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in structural/civil engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience as structural engineer.
• Professionally registered engineer with ECSA.
• Excellent project and engineering management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of project lifecycle, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, budget tracking, and risk management.
• Lead and manage a Structural Engineering Team through all stages of design; perform structural analyses and designs using Citra Building Technologies; compile rational design reports.
• Collaborate with international engineering firms during design processes and explore non-standard materials or systems for certification where necessary.

Citra is looking for a Professional Structural Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technologists to design and sign off Citra buildings and structures. You will be responsible for the structural design and implementation of the Citra technology from an engineering perspective into ongoing projects, with a strong focus on project and engineering management. You will collaborate with our R&D and Excellence Departments within the Engineering Division to ensure we deliver projects successfully.

Duties

• Manage all aspects of project lifecycle, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, budget tracking, and risk management.
• Lead and manage a Structural Engineering Team through all stages of design to:
  • Perform structural analyses on both conventional and Citra Buildings and Structures
  • Perform conceptual and detailed structural designs and incorporate Citra Building Technologies
  • Compile and submit rational design reports where necessary
  • Collaborate with and assist international engineering firms through the design process of international projects that incorporates the Citra Building Technologies
  • Explore and obtain certification for non-standard building materials, elements or systems where necessary
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in structural/civil engineering
• Minimum 5 years experience as structural engineer
• Professionally registered engineer with ECSA
• Excellent project and engineering management and communication skills
• Keen on leading an international team of professionals
• Experience with reinforced concrete and masonry materials for design and analysis according to local and international norms (Eurocode, SANS, etc.)
• Skilled in Finite Element Modelling (FEM)
• Highly motivated and attention to detail

Preferred

• Masters degree in structural engineering
• 8+ years experience in structural engineering
• Experience with alternative construction methods and materials
• Eager to learn and adopt new materials, technologies, and construction methods
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
