Qualifications

• Recent graduate of a professional architecture degree from an accredited institution.
• Registration status with SACAP or eligibility for immediate registration as Candidate Architect or similar.
• Experience with Revit for drafting and modelling; knowledge of other software is a plus.
• Strong desire to learn and apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Meticulous drafting and documentation discipline.
• Motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design study support and visualization, model-making, and producing renderings for meetings.
• Drafting and drawing production under supervision in Revit for SACAP stages 3–4.
• Documentation administration including file management, registers, and version control.
• Regulatory research into NBR, zoning schemes, and by-laws for compliance.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with input from engineers and external consultants.
• Attend site visits and meetings to take minutes and observe construction progress.

The Opportunity

The Candidate Senior Architectural Technologist will be immersed in all facets of the integrated design and construction process, supporting the architectural team and learning directly from professional architects, engineers, and contractors. This role provides invaluable, hands-on experience in generating technical documentation, assisting with design studies, and understanding regulatory compliance within a dynamic, technology-driven environment.

Core Responsibilities (Duties)

• Design Support & Visualization: Assist the project team with design studies, model-making (physical and digital), and preparing graphic presentations and architectural renderings for client and stakeholder meetings.


• Drafting and Drawing Production: Under the direct supervision of a Project Architect, assist in the production and modification of design development (SACAP Stage 3) and technical documentation (SACAP Stage 4) drawings in Revit.


• Documentation Administration: Support the organisation and management of project files, drawing registers, and project communication, ensuring accurate record-keeping and version control.


• Regulatory Research: Conduct research into the National Building Regulations (NBR), local zoning schemes, and specific by-laws to ensure drawings and design solutions are compliant.


• Coordination Assistance: Assist the technical team in coordinating architectural drawings with input from internal engineers and external consultants.


• Site and Meeting Support: Attend site visits and project meetings to take minutes, observe construction progress, and gain practical exposure to the construction process.

Requirements

• Education: Recent graduate of a professional degree in Architecture (BTech, BArcHons, or MArch) from an accredited institution.


• Registration Status: Must be registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Candidate Architectural Technologist, Candidate Senior Architectural Technologist or Candidate Architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).


• Technical Proficiency: Must have experience using Revit for architectural drafting and modelling. Proficiency in other relevant software (Google Workspace, Adobe Suite, Rhino) is a plus.


• Eagerness to Learn: Possess a strong desire to learn, take instruction, and apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges.


• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to accurately record information and articulate design ideas.


• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to drafting and documentation, understanding the importance of accuracy in technical work.


• Work Ethic: Highly motivated, organised, and able to manage time effectively to support multiple tasks simultaneously.
