About the Role

Our client, a premier international freight and logistics company, is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Professional Long‑Haul Driver to manage cross-border transportation routes. This role is critical for ensuring the timely and secure delivery of goods between South Africa and neighboring countries. Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy‑duty commercial vehicles safely and efficiently on long‑haul routes, including cross-border assignments.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
• Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of cargo, protecting it from damage and theft.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and customs procedures in all jurisdictions traveled.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered using electronic logging devices (ELDs).
• Manage delivery schedules and route planning to ensure timely arrivals at destinations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and border officials throughout the journey.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting as needed during transit.
• Ensure all required shipping documentation is accurate and readily available.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Requirements

• Valid Code14 (EC) driver’s license with an excellent driving record and no major infringements.
• Professional Driving Permit (PDP) valid for international travel.
• Minimum of 7years of verifiable experience in long‑haul truck driving, with significant cross-border experience.
• Proven ability to operate large, articulated vehicles safely and reliably over long distances.
• In‑depth knowledge of international trucking regulations, customs procedures, and border crossing requirements.
• Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and modern fleet management systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations independently.
• Excellent physical condition and stamina to manage the demands of long‑haul driving.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passport valid for international travel is essential.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and random drug and alcohol testing.
