Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a commercial vehicle to transport goods to designated locations within and around Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal .
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and road safety regulations.
• Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods to prevent damage.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, records of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients during delivery and pick-up operations.
• Report any vehicle mechanical issues or operational problems to the fleet manager promptly.
• Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure maximum efficiency and punctuality.

Requirements

• Valid Code 10 (C1) or Code 14 (EC1) driver's license with a PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) in good standing.
• A minimum of 3 years of proven professional driving experience, preferably in a commercial delivery role.
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
• Familiarity with the road networks and geography of Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal and surrounding areas.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 25kg) if required for loading/unloading.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and a DOT physical examination.
