Placements24 is seeking a Production Technologist for our client in Bloemfontein, Free State. The role focuses on optimizing existing wells, troubleshooting operations, and implementing new technologies to boost recovery.

You will collaborate with field operations, reservoir engineers, and other disciplines in a hybrid setup. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in oil & gas production and a strong background in artificial lift, well performance analysis, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field relevant to oil and gas production.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas production operations or production engineering.
• Strong knowledge of artificial lift, surface facilities, and wellbore hydraulics.
• Experience with production monitoring software and data analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze well performance data, including production rates, pressures and temperatures.
• Identify opportunities to optimize artificial lift systems and improve recovery.
• Troubleshoot production issues such as paraffin, scale and water cut.
• Assist in design and implementation of well interventions and workover programs.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic upstream oil and gas company, is looking for a dedicated Production Technologist to join their team in Bloemfontein, Free State. This role focuses on optimizing production from existing wells, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing new technologies to enhance recovery and efficiency. You will work closely with field operations, reservoir engineers, and other disciplines to ensure smooth and profitable production. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in production operations, artificial lift systems, and well performance analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze well performance data, including production rates, pressures, and temperatures.
• Identify opportunities to optimize artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift) and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot production-related problems, such as paraffin, scale, or water cut issues.
• Assist in the design and implementation of well interventions and workover programs.
• Evaluate new technologies and equipment for potential application in production operations.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers to forecast production and evaluate potential development scenarios.
• Prepare technical reports on well performance, operational issues, and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all production activities.
• Support field operations personnel with technical guidance and problem-solving.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of production databases and documentation.

Requirements
