Job summary

MAHLE MTFS (ZA) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a Production Technician to maintain machinery in the plant under the Production Manager, ensuring output targets and quality are met. The role requires a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a Trade Tested background, and over 5 years of production experience; experience with press machines and tooling is advantageous.

Must work well under pressure and without supervision.

Qualifications

• Trade Tested certification or equivalent
• Toolmaker qualification or equivalent
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• More than 5 years’ experience in a production environment
• Experience with press machines and associated tooling would be an advantage
• Be able to work under pressure
• Must be able to work with no supervision

Responsibilities

• Achieve product output.
• Ensure quality and scrap targets are met.
• Managing of tools and equipment; tools are available and maintained.
• Identify damages and potential breakdowns.
• Initiating continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure Health, Safety and Environment standards meet legal requirements; ensure machinery is safe to work on.
• Manage housekeeping and toolrooms.
