About the Role

Our client, a major player in the industrial chemicals sector, is seeking an experienced and motivated Production Shift Supervisor for their facility in Rustenburg, North West . This hands-on role requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of chemical plant operations. You will be responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality control, and operational efficiency during your assigned shift. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing teams and optimizing production processes in a demanding chemical manufacturing environment. This is a critical role that ensures the consistent and safe output of essential chemical products.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of plant operators and technicians during shift operations.
• Ensure all production activities are conducted in compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
• Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Optimize production schedules and resource allocation to meet operational targets.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture.
• Manage inventory of raw materials and finished products for the shift.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of chemical processing equipment.
• Train and mentor new operators, ensuring they are proficient in plant procedures and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate production records, logs, and reports.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and quality control departments to resolve issues and improve processes.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in chemical plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with process equipment, control systems (DCS/PLC), and safety procedures in a chemical manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes and principles relevant to the plant's operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
• Proficiency in safety management systems and environmental compliance.
• Computer literacy, including experience with MS Office and production management software.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage.
