Job summary

Zeal HR (Pty) Ltd, on behalf of a client in the FMCG sector, seeks a hands-on Production & Operations Supervisor based in Malmesbury.

You will oversee daily factory and warehouse operations, lead a team of about 14 staff, manage production planning, stock accuracy and lean improvements, and collaborate with sales, procurement and warehousing to ensure on-time delivery and high inventory integrity.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years' experience in FMCG manufacturing, production or warehouse.
• Previous supervisory experience in similar environment.
• Strong production planning and scheduling experience.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer literacy.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with stock control and inventory management.

Production & Operations Supervisor

Our client in the FMCG industry is seeking a hands-on Production & Operations Supervisor to oversee and coordinate daily factory and warehouse operations based in Malmesbury, Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for production planning, stock accuracy, workflow management, team supervision, and operational efficiency. Working closely with sales, procurement and warehouse teams, they will ensure customer orders are produced and delivered on time while maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy and operational performance.

This role will supervise approximately 14 production and warehouse employees and will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, system optimisation and lean operational practices.

Responsibilities:

• Production Planning & Coordination
  • Create and manage production schedules based on customer orders and priorities.
  • Ensure production capacity, labour and materials are aligned to delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate daily production activities and monitor progress against schedules.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Ensure retailer and customer deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Team Leadership
  • Supervise approximately 14 production and warehouse staff.
  • Allocate daily tasks and monitor productivity.
  • Maintain accountability for performance, quality and output.
  • Support training, development and continuous improvement within the team.
• Warehouse & Inventory Control
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing stock movements.
  • Ensure accurate picking, transfers and dispatch processes.
  • Maintain high levels of stock accuracy.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure warehouse organisation and housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Systems & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate information on the ERP system.
  • Generate and analyse operational reports.
  • Monitor stock, production and performance metrics.
  • Assist with improving reporting and operational visibility.
• Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement practical systems and processes.
  • Drive lean operational practices and waste reduction.
  • Use data, reporting and technology tools, including AI where appropriate, to support decision-making and process improvement.
