PayInc is seeking a Product Specialist: Value Added Services (PayShap) in Johannesburg to guide the PayShap ecosystem, shaping requirements, roadmaps and financial models for new initiatives.

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Product Specialist: Value Added Services (PayShap) role is to manage and continuously enhance the Value-Added Services capability within the PayShap ecosystem, supporting sustainable profitability, operational excellence and an optimal customer experience, in alignment with the strategic direction of the Product Manager: Payments Real Time.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
  • Facilitate engagement with internal and external stakeholders to provide frequent feedback on current performance, product needs, opportunities, dependencies and constraints.
  • Partner with Product Managers, clients and delivery teams to identify, document and evaluate product requirements and roadmap priorities.
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and business boundaries, ensuring that product insights are clearly understood and actionable.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients using or impacted by Value-Added Services (PayShap), including product, operational and service stakeholders.
  • Engage with relevant regulatory bodies and external vendors to support product delivery, operational continuity, compliance and service improvement.
  • Key stakeholders include: Product Managers, clients/participants, delivery teams, product and operational stakeholders, regulatory bodies and external vendors.
PRODUCT STRATEGY & GROWTH
Product Strategy and Development:

Contribute to the strategic development and evolution of the PayShap Value-Added Services capability by identifying opportunities, defining business requirements, developing use cases, supporting the product roadmap and providing input into financial models and business cases for new initiatives, ensuring alignment with product and organisational strategy.

Value-Added Services Management:

Manage and continuously enhance PayShap Value-Added Services, including PayShap Initiation, Refunds and Reversals, and Proxy/Account Resolution, ensuring that services remain aligned to customer, participant, business and industry requirements.

Product Strategy Execution:

Translate and execute the agreed product strategy across the product lifecycle by identifying market opportunities and gaps, managing risks, pricing and contractual considerations, monitoring competitor and market trends, and supporting the achievement of product value and revenue objectives.

Customer and Market Insights:

Leverage evidence-based insights to understand customer needs, behaviours and profiles, ensuring product enhancements remain relevant, practical and customer-centric.

Market Development and Revenue Growth

Understand market trends, threats, and opportunities, and support revenue growth through collaboration with CAM and new business development teams on customer engagement, proposals and new business opportunities.

PRODUCT PERFORMANCE & OPTIMISATION
Product Performance Management and Value Enhancement:

Monitor, analyse and optimise product performance using data-driven insights to enhance product value, inform decision-making and support continuous improvement.

Product Support and Continuous Improvement:

Provide ongoing product support, investigate product-related challenges through hypothesis-driven analysis, and recommend enhancements to improve product effectiveness and customer outcomes.

Performance and Incident Management:

Identify and track product performance issues and incidents, coordinate appropriate resolution and monitor corrective actions to support service continuity and product performance.

PRODUCT DELIVERY, RISK & CHANGE
Product Risk and Change Management

Identify, assess, and manage product risks while supporting the planning, implementation, testing, and governance of product changes throughout the product lifecycle.

Product Implementation and Delivery

Support product implementation, manage delivery activities, and oversee formal product testing to ensure successful deployment and operational readiness.

Requirements and Functional Specifications

Translate business, customer, participant and industry needs into clearly defined functional requirements and supporting specifications to enable effective product development and delivery.

Operational Readiness:

Ensure that product changes and new capabilities are appropriately assessed for operational readiness, service continuity and stakeholder impact prior to implementation.

PRODUCT LEADERSHIP & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
Product Expertise and Stakeholder Engagement:

Develop and maintain deep PayShap product knowledge, acting as a trusted advisor and source of expertise for internal and external stakeholders.

Product Leadership Support:

Provide operational, strategic, and stakeholder management support, acting as a delegate and stand-in for the Product Manager on Value Added Services (PayShap) when required.

Knowledge and Advisory Support:

Provide specialist product insights and recommendations to support informed product, commercial, operational and strategic decisions

INNOVATION & DIGITAL SOLUTIONS
Low-Code/No-Code Solution Development:

Design, build, test, and enhance low-code/no-code solutions from prototype through to production-ready implementation, supporting product innovation and operational efficiency.

BUSINESS SUPPORT AND PRODUCT ANALYSIS:
Product Assessment and Feasibility Analysis:

Gather, assess, and analyse product information to develop a holistic understanding of existing and new products, providing expert recommendations on product feasibility, viability, functionality, integration, infrastructure, security, data, and performance considerations.

Product Design and Advisory Services:

Provide expert input and formal opinions on product design, regulatory, business, commercial, and operational considerations to support informed product decisions and development.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Conduct product risk assessments to identify inherent and residual risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and enhance the effectiveness, resilience, and success of product and service offerings.

Product Knowledge Management and Framework Development:

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of product frameworks, methodologies, and standards while building deep domain knowledge of products and the broader payments ecosystem.

Knowledge Sharing and Capability Development:

Facilitate the sharing of specialist product knowledge and insights with Product Analysts, Product Architects, and stakeholders to support product innovation, collaboration, and service offering development.

Business Growth and Client Support:

Support CAM in identifying new business opportunities, maintaining existing client relationships, and driving revenue retention and growth.

Commercial and Financial Management:

Support the verification of automated billing, interchange validation, and reconciliation processes to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure all legal, contractual, regulatory, and disaster recovery requirements are met and maintained for product and industry compliance.

Customer Onboarding and Operational Readiness:

Support the onboarding and go-live process for new customers by ensuring all pre-implementation requirements and controls have been successfully completed.

MONTHLY REPORTING
  • Develop and maintain monthly product-level reporting covering product performance, market trends and product lifecycle activities.
  • Report on product revenue, transaction volumes, trends, implications and recommended actions to grow or protect revenue.
  • Identify and track key actions at customer, product and industry level, including the resolution of product performance issues and incidents.
COMPLIANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT
  • Procedures and SLA’s: Develop, amend and implement relevant procedures and or SLA’s
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant policies & procedures, regulation and legislation
  • Risk: Ensure risks are reported on and mitigated
QUALIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE
  • Relevant Degree Information/Technology Management
  • Required computer literacy levels
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in payments
  • Working Knowledge of Acquiring / Acceptance
  • Understanding / knowledge of PayShap and applicable used cases
