Job summary

Vodacom in Midrand is seeking an experienced Product Operations professional to manage Microsoft CSP subscriptions, licensing guidance, and lifecycle events. You will coordinate with Sales, Finance and Service Operations to ensure accurate provisioning, renewals, and billing while driving revenue protection and operational efficiency.

The role requires strong Excel and Power BI skills, deep knowledge of CSP terms, and hands-on experience with Partner Center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Operations or a related field.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, AZ-900, and Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, SC-900. A previously earned Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals credential may also be recognised.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals, AB-900 (advantageous).
  • Current Microsoft CSP, NCE and Partner Center commercial training.
  • Five to 10 years’ relevant experience in Microsoft CSP operations, cloud licensing, software asset management, ICT commercial operations, billing or order fulfilment within a Microsoft partner, distributor or enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate renewal requirements with sales teams to secure renewal and upsell.
  • Develop and implement renewal programmes with distributors and partners.

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

This Product Operations role – Microsoft is focused on managing and executing product strategy, perform the end-to-end operational and commercial lifecycle of Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider subscriptions for Vodacom Business. The role ensures accurate provisioning, renewals, billing and reconciliation; provides licensing guidance across Microsoft products; maintains Partner Center governance and compliance; and coordinates Sales, Finance, Service Operations, distributors and Microsoft to deliver accurate customer outcomes, protect revenue and improve operational efficiency.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Co-ordinate and track all customer renewal requirements by working with the relevant sales teams and Product Specialist Sales team to secure renewal and upsell of all our solution offerings. This needs to be of profitable growth and expansion of market share for that product or solution.
  • To be responsible for developing and implementing renewal programmes by working with various distributors and partners to be aligned with the best we can offer to our customers. Supported by all the specific product and service’s sales & support documentation, costing and pricing models
  • Manage Microsoft CSP subscription orders and lifecycle events, including provisioning, quantity changes, upgrades, migrations, suspensions, cancellations, renewals, billing-term changes and end-date alignment, in line with Microsoft policy and approved customer instructions.
  • Maintain accurate customer, tenant, subscription, price, term and renewal records across Microsoft Partner Center and Vodacom CRM, order-management and billing systems.
  • Interpret Microsoft product terms, CSP and New Commerce Experience rules, eligibility requirements, promotions and commercial changes, and translate them into clear guidance for Sales, Finance, Service Operations and customers.
  • Validate quotations, product SKUs, quantities, pricing, billing frequency, commitment term, foreign-exchange assumptions and margin before order submission or renewal.
  • Must be able to perform monthly reconciliation of Microsoft invoices and reconciliation files against distributor statements, internal systems and customer billing; investigate variances, credits and failed transactions to prevent revenue leakage when required.
  • Maintain Partner Center operational governance, including user access, customer relationships, Partner IDs, delegated administration and audit evidence, in accordance with Vodacom security controls and Microsoft partner requirements.
  • Track renewal dates, cancellation windows, scheduled changes and customer approvals; issue proactive renewal and exception alerts to accountable stakeholders.
  • Log, own and resolve provisioning, licensing, billing and platform escalations with Microsoft, distributors and internal support teams within agreed service levels.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures, controls, knowledge articles and process improvements, and support automation of repeatable ordering, reconciliation and reporting activities.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the operational licensing point of contact for Sales, Product, Finance, Commercial, Service Operations and customer-facing teams.
  • Work with account teams to clarify customer requirements, validate licensing options and ensure complete, approved order inputs before fulfilment.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Microsoft, appointed distributors and relevant OEM support teams to resolve commercial and operational issues.
  • Provide timely status updates on pricing, orders, renewals, billing exceptions and escalations, with clear ownership and next actions.
  • Deliver licensing and process enablement sessions and maintain current operational guidance for internal stakeholders.
Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain renewal, subscription, provisioning and exception dashboards, including upcoming commitments and cancellation deadlines.
  • Produce monthly billing-reconciliation and revenue-assurance reports, with root causes, ageing, financial impact and corrective actions.
  • Report operational service levels, order accuracy, provisioning turnaround times, renewal completion, unresolved escalations and credit-note trends.
  • Maintain audit-ready records of customer approvals, quotations, orders, changes, invoices, credits, renewals and exceptions.
  • Highlight recurring control gaps and recommend process, system or automation improvements to management.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Operations or a related field.

  • Experience with Microsoft CSP and New Commerce Experience terms, subscription lifecycle rules, pricing, invoicing and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with CRM, ERP, billing or marketplace platforms and managing high-volume operational data is advantageous.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
  • Intelligent with commercial acumen, numerate and understanding of finance concepts.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal and presentation); with the ability to form and manage relationships at all levels within both internally and externally (customers and account managers).
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Partner Center, CSP and New Commerce Experience subscription management, Microsoft 365 Admin Center and Azure Portal.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft product terms, licensing models, commitment terms, billing frequencies, renewals, upgrades, migrations, promotions and cancellation rules.
  • Knowledge of Partner Center billing, invoice and reconciliation files, credits, consumption charges, foreign-exchange impacts and revenue-assurance controls.
  • Working knowledge of Partner Center access and governance, customer relationships, Partner IDs and granular delegated admin privileges.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation, exception analysis and large-data handling; Power BI experience is advantageous.
  • Strong commercial and numerical acumen, with the ability to validate pricing, margin, tax and billing outcomes.
  • High attention to detail and confident operation within documented controls, approval matrices, audit requirements and service levels.
  • Proven analytical, root‑cause, problem‑solving and escalation‑management capability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex licensing and commercial rules in plain language.
  • Ability to prioritise high‑volume, time‑sensitive requests and manage competing renewal, provisioning and billing deadlines.
