Product Manager Luxury Safari Travel Company Remote

Location : Remote (South Africa-based)

Salary : Negotiable Dependent on Experience

Type : Full-time Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00)

Position

Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking an experienced and strategic Product Manager to join a leading luxury safari travel company. This remote role is ideal for a highly organised adaptable and customer-focused individual with a strong background in product development within the travel industry.

Position Purpose

The Product Manager will be responsible for the strategic development, management and performance of the company\'s product portfolio, ensuring market competitiveness and alignment with evolving travel trends. This role demands a dynamic individual with deep industry insight and strong supplier pricing and marketing experience.

Responsibilities
  • Product Portfolio Management
    • Maintain and update all product information including rates, terms, inclusions and exclusions
    • Develop a competitive, innovative and well-positioned product range
    • Responsible for annual pricing of all products
    • Ensure accuracy and profitability of all offerings
  • Supplier Management
    • Lead the contracting process with suppliers
    • Ensure compliance with licensing and insurance requirements
    • Manage supplier performance and maintain documentation
    • Develop and nurture strong supplier relationships
  • Financial Performance & Profitability
    • Negotiate competitive rates and maximise profit margins
    • Budget, cost and yield manage all aspects of the product line
    • Conduct competitor product analyses and pricing comparisons
  • Product Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyse product sales performance and profitability
    • Present findings to management for strategic planning and alignment with sales goals
    • Compile regular reports and market insight
  • Agent Portal Management
    • Maintain updated product data and rates in coordination with the Digital Marketing Manager
    • Ensure accuracy and accessibility of the agent portal
  • System Operations
    • Oversee accurate and timely loading of rates and contracts into the operating system
    • Implement process improvements to drive operational efficiency
  • Training & Communication
    • Design and coordinate product training for staff and agents including familiarisation tours
    • Communicate all product changes, updates and rate adjustments to relevant departments
    • Develop training materials and facilitate training sessions
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with the marketing team to support product campaigns and enhance content
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the travel industry with proven success in product development
  • In-depth knowledge of Southern Africa as a travel destination
  • Proficient in Travel Studio and WETU (essential)
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel within Southern Africa when required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Strong communication skills across phone, email and video conferencing
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Agile, energetic and solutions-oriented

Working Environment

This is a remote work position. Candidates must provide their own stable internet connection and electricity supply.

Gauteng-based staff may access a REGUS Business Lounge membership to mitigate load shedding interruptions.

Equipment provided: includes a laptop and second screen.

The phone system operates via MS Teams and staff are required to have the app installed on their personal smartphones.

Communication via WhatsApp is essential and the app is required for all business-related updates.
