About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Product Development Engineer to join their team, offering a fully remote working arrangement. You will be at the forefront of conceptualizing, designing, and bringing new mechanical products to life. This role demands a creative mind, a strong technical background, and the ability to thrive in an independent, remote-first environment. You will collaborate with marketing, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure product success from ideation through to market launch, contributing significantly to the company's growth and innovation pipeline in the Free State region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and design of new mechanical products, from initial sketches to detailed specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, market research, and competitive analysis for new product ideas.
• Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate designs based on results.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation , including 3D models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive product innovation.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience (8+ years) in product development and mechanical design.
• Proven track record of successfully launching new products into the market.
• Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost optimization.
