Job summary

Global Edge Group is seeking an experienced Product Delivery Manager to lead end-to-end software delivery across multiple products and projects. You will combine project management with deep understanding of software engineering, engaging with engineering teams, and challenging plans, estimates, dependencies and risks.

Reporting to the CTO, you will own delivery, people leadership, and coordination across software initiatives, with potential to evolve toward CTO succession.

Job description

Global Edge Group is partnering with a growing, technology led organisation to appoint an experienced Product Delivery Manager.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines a strong understanding of software development with proven project and delivery management capability. You do not need to be the deepest technical expert in the room, but you must be technically credible enough to understand the software-development lifecycle, engage confidently with engineering teams and challenge delivery plans, estimates, dependencies and risks.

Reporting directly to the CTO and operating as a key second-in-command within the technology function, this individual will take ownership of development delivery, people leadership, project execution and coordination across multiple software initiatives.

For the right individual, the role offers meaningful leadership scope and the potential to develop toward future CTO succession.

The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring that software priorities move from requirement through development, testing, release and production in a structured, predictable and accountable way.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading end-to-end delivery across multiple concurrent software products and projects
• Combining sound project management disciplines with an understanding of software engineering and delivery
• Managing development capacity, priorities, dependencies, risks, timelines and delivery commitments
• Leading, coaching and performance-managing software developers and team leads
• Working closely with the CTO and senior technical specialists to translate technology priorities into executable delivery plans
• Challenging estimates, identifying delivery risks and escalating priority or capacity conflicts early
• Coordinating requirements, development, QA, integration, deployment and production releases
• Working across engineering, DevOps, databases, IT, security and business stakeholders
• Managing technical debt alongside customer and commercial priorities
• Supporting technology modernisation and migration initiatives
• Driving appropriate adoption of AI-assisted software-development practices
• Providing clear project and portfolio reporting to senior leadership

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical understanding, project management capability, people leadership and delivery ownership.

Ideally, you will have:

• 10–15+ years’ experience across software engineering, software development and/or technical delivery
• 4–6+ years leading software-development teams
• A technical foundation in software development or engineering, with the ability to understand and engage around architecture, APIs, databases, deployments and technical dependencies
• Strong project/programme management experience within a software-development environment
• Proven understanding of the full software development and delivery lifecycle, from requirements and estimation through development, QA, release and production
• Direct people-management experience including hiring, coaching, performance management and conflict resolutionExperience managing multiple software projects/products against finite engineering capacity and changing priorities
• Understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, APIs, relational databases and production releases
• Exposure to cloud, on-premise and/or edge environments
• Familiarity with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
• Experience contributing to platform modernisation, technology migrations or transformation initiatives would be advantageous
• A relevant Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems qualification or equivalent demonstrable technical experience

Project/programme qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum or equivalent would be advantageous.

Leadership Profile

This position requires someone who can operate comfortably between technology and business delivery.

You may no longer be a hands-on developer, and you are not expected to be the organisation’s principal technical expert. You are, however, expected to understand software development deeply enough to ask the right questions, challenge weak delivery plans and make informed decisions alongside senior technical leadership.

You should be a high-drive finisher who can create structure, hold teams accountable and handle difficult people or delivery conversations constructively.

Equally important is a low-ego, high-confidence leadership style. You will work closely with an established CTO and senior engineering specialists, respecting technical ownership while taking clear accountability for people, projects and delivery.

This role offers considerably more than traditional project management.

You will operate as a trusted second-in-command to the CTO, gaining exposure to broader technology leadership while taking ownership of the execution side of the software function.

For an individual with the right technical foundation, leadership maturity and commercial awareness, there is potential to develop toward future CTO-level responsibility.
