Job description

The Opportunity

This isn't a role for someone who simply processes purchase orders.

The successful individual will be trusted to shape the divisional procurement strategy, strengthen supplier relationships, identify meaningful savings opportunities and ensure the business receives the right products and services at the right quality, price and time.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence procurement across operational sites while leading a team and creating a culture of commercial thinking, accountability and continuous improvement.

What You'll Take Ownership Of

  • Develop and execute the divisional procurement and sourcing strategy

  • Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers that support operational and commercial objectives

  • Lead commercial negotiations and contracts, securing competitive pricing without compromising quality

  • Analyse spend, procurement data and market trends to uncover cost-saving opportunities

  • Build and maintain a purchasing strategy that supports the organisation's B-BBEE objectives, including audit and verification requirements

  • Monitor and improve supplier performance across price, quality, specification and on-time delivery

  • Develop strategies to mitigate supply-chain and supplier risk

  • Lead and develop teams across procurement, warehousing and logistics

  • Partner closely with operational sites and internal stakeholders to understand upcoming requirements and ensure successful delivery

  • Oversee inventory management, including receiving, stock issues, counts and controls

  • Maintain effective asset-control and fleet-management systems, including authorised vehicle maintenance and repairs

What Will Set You Apart?

We're looking for someone who can combine procurement expertise with commercial instinct.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification

  • CIPS would be advantageous

  • At least 8 years' proven procurement experience

  • Procurement exposure within the construction industry would be highly advantageous

  • At least 3 years' experience managing a procurement team

  • Strong strategic sourcing and contract negotiation capability

  • Excellent supplier and stakeholder-management skills

  • Strong analytical capability across cost analysis, spend and forecasting

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • A valid driver's licence and reliable transport

The Person We're Looking For

You’ll thrive in this opportunity if you're:

Commercially astute | Strategic | Decisive | Analytical | Results-driven | Collaborative | Solutions-focused | A strong negotiator

You’ll need the confidence to challenge suppliers, influence internal stakeholders and make commercially sound decisions while still maintaining strong working relationships.

Why This Opportunity?

This role offers something that experienced Procurement Managers often look for: the opportunity to genuinely influence the business.

You’ll be operating from the Gauteng Head Office, working closely with operational sites and senior leadership while having ownership across a broad procurement portfolio. Rather than being limited to transactional purchasing, you’ll influence sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, cost reduction, B-BBEE, risk, inventory, assets, fleet and team performance.

If you’re looking for your next opportunity to build, optimise and lead a procurement function where your commercial decisions can make a measurable difference, this could be the career move you’ve been waiting for.
