About the Role

A dynamic and rapidly growing company in the renewable energy sector is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to join their team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is crucial for sourcing and procuring components essential for the development and deployment of renewable energy projects, such as solar and wind power. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of global supply chains, particularly for specialized components in the green technology industry. The role is based in the coastal city of Mossel Bay , a developing hub for renewable energy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute robust procurement strategies for key components in renewable energy projects (solar panels, turbines, inverters, etc.).
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers globally and locally, ensuring they meet quality, ethical, and performance standards.
• Lead negotiations for complex contracts, aiming for competitive pricing, favourable terms, and risk mitigation.
• Manage and foster strong, collaborative relationships with a diverse base of suppliers.
• Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Conduct thorough market analysis to stay informed about pricing trends, technological advancements, and potential supply chain disruptions in the renewable energy sector.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align procurement activities with project requirements.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance and procurement efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, trade agreements, and company policies.
• Contribute to strategic decision-making regarding sourcing strategies and long-term supply chain planning.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a significant focus on complex projects or technical components.
• Demonstrated experience in sourcing and procuring components for the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, etc.) is highly preferred.
