About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the mining support services sector, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Procurement Manager to lead their purchasing department in Rustenburg . This is a full-time, on-site position, requiring active participation and leadership within the local team. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services essential to mining operations. You will oversee a team of procurement professionals, drive cost-saving initiatives, and uphold the highest standards of ethical sourcing and compliance. This critical role demands strategic thinking, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the procurement landscape within the industrial and mining sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies aligned with company objectives and operational needs. Lead and mentor a team of procurement specialists, fostering a high-performance culture. Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, from needs identification and supplier selection to contract negotiation and order fulfillment. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct comprehensive market analysis and competitor reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks. Negotiate complex contracts and service level agreements with major suppliers. Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, and relevant legislation. Manage departmental budgets and provide regular reports on procurement performance and key metrics. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function. Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and finance departments to meet strategic goals.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity. Extensive experience in strategic sourcing and contract negotiation, particularly within the mining or heavy industry sectors. Proven ability to lead and develop a procurement team. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities. Demonstrated experience in managing significant procurement budgets and delivering cost savings. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. Deep understanding of South African procurement regulations and best practices. Residency or willingness to relocate to Rustenburg for an on-site role.
