Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a reliable Purchasing Clerk in Soweto to support the procurement team with purchase orders, records management, and supplier communication.

You will work closely with the purchasing manager and buyers to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing of goods and services, while maintaining accurate documentation and a proactive approach to learn and grow within the department.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an administrative or purchasing support role is advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain up-to-date records of orders, invoices, and supplier correspondence.
• Assist in obtaining quotes from approved suppliers.
• Track order status and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely receipt of goods.
• Communicate with suppliers to resolve basic queries regarding orders or deliveries.
• Ensure all purchasing documentation is properly filed and archived.
