Placements24 in Durban is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to safeguard operations across the energy and petrochemical sector. You will implement and manage PSM, conduct PHAs, and drive hazard controls with a focus on compliance and safety culture.

With at least five years in process safety, you will lead MOC, LOPA, HAZOP activities, deliver safety training, perform audits, and collaborate with engineering and operations to embed safety into design and operations in Durban.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in chemical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of process safety engineering experience in petrochemical/chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements: PHA, MOC, mechanical integrity, emergency planning.
• Proficient in PHAs such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Familiar with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and best practices.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for operations personnel.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for process modifications.
• Perform safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to embed safety in design and operation.
• Maintain safety documentation and records with accuracy.
