Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Principal Process Engineer for our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, to optimize and scale complex chemical processes on-site. You will lead process development, simulations, scale-up from lab to full plant, and ensure safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have a chemical engineering degree, 8+ years in process design, proficiency in Aspen Plus/HYSYS, and strong leadership to mentor teams across R&D and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering.
• Experience with process design, simulation, and scale-up (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Experience with HAZOP and PSM.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of chemical processes.
• Perform process simulations and develop P&IDs.
• Troubleshoot deviations, identify root causes, and implement actions.
• Manage scale-up from lab to pilot and full scale.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with process engineering advances.
