Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Process Engineer for on-site work in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products in a highly regulated setting, ensuring GMP compliance and high quality output.

You will collaborate with QA, R&D, and Operations to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and support new product introductions, while maintaining process documentation and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years in pharma process engineering.
• GMP and regulatory compliance knowledge for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with process validation, CAPAs, IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products per GMP.
• Design process improvements to boost yield, efficiency, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement CAPAs.

About the Role

Our client, a reputable pharmaceutical manufacturer, is seeking a detail-oriented Process Engineer to join their state-of-the-art facility in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This is a critical on-site role responsible for the development, optimization, and validation of manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products. The successful candidate will ensure that all processes meet stringent regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP) and contribute to the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of life-saving medicines. You will work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, and R&D teams to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and support new product introductions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products according to GMP guidelines.
• Design and implement process improvements to enhance yield, efficiency, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Prepare and review process validation protocols and reports (IQ, OQ, PQ).
• Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and Operations.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Support the introduction of new products and technologies into the manufacturing environment.
• Analyze process data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of GMP, validation principles, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with process simulation and modeling software is desirable.
• Proficiency in P&ID and PFD development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience with specific pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies (e.g., fermentation, purification, sterile processing) is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and compliance.
